WW1 COMMEMORATIVE EVENT
Saturday 10th May, 10am - 4pm
The Eden Valley Museum invites you to a FREE all day event marking the Centenary of the Great War 1914-1918

MARCHING
The event begins at 10am with a marching display in Edenbridge High Street by WW1 re-enactors, the Rifles Living History Society and the Queen’s Own Royal West Kent Living History Group, accompanied by the Town Band.

DRILL
The programme will include various drill displays including one-to-one bayonet fighting and a gas mask drill.

SHOW AND TELL
There will be a display of soldier’s uniforms and equipment, including a heavy machine gun; a munitions display; a Medical Corps Display; and the story of a wounded WW1 soldier’s journey back to Blighty.

MUSIC
During the morning the Town Band will entertain visitors with tunes from the era and over the lunchtime period, the Forge Singers, in WW1 uniforms, will be singing well-known songs from WW1.

FILM
Two showings at 11.15am and 2pm of a film on
‘The Belgian Experience in the Great War’.
FINDING MY PAST
The museum is bringing together three relatives of the Geal family, descendants of WW1 soldiers, who have never met or even knew about each other until museum researchers brought their relationships to light. This special display includes a fascinating story of a ‘Lost then Found’ WW1 Gallantry Medal previously featured in Britain's Secret Treasures a documentary shown on ITV in 2012/13.
