When you submit an online, telephone or hard copy order to the shop, that submission constitutes an offer to purchase goods from Kentish Towns. On acceptance of the offer by Kentish Towns, your contract is with Kentish Towns, and your statutory rights are with Kentish Towns. Making A Purchase Making a purchase could not be easier. Just browse our store, and add any items that you wish to buy into the shopping cart. After you have finished your selection, click on 'Checkout' and you will be asked for a few details that we need to be able to complete the order.

We accept credit card payment. If you are shopping from North America or anywhere else, place your order and your credit card company will convert the transaction to US Dollars or your own currency.

When confirmation of order is received, this is to indicate that we have received your order. It does not indicate that a contract exists between us. We will indicate acceptance of your order, and hence a contract between us, when we send you an invoice. We have included this term to protect us in the case that a mistake has been made in pricing, we have inadvertently under-priced goods, or we are no longer able to supply a particular product for some reason. Shipping And Handling All items shipped to UK addresses are despatched by 1st Class Post, or by the class of post selected.

The delivery times shown (The Delivery Schedule page) estimate the number of days that it will take a package to reach you from the date we send it. The occurances that might affect delivery times are:

The method of shipment (ordinary post or courier)
The country of destination
UK delivery

Each item shipped to you depends on whether we have the item in stock and, if we do not, how quickly we can obtain products from the supplier. In general, there are two levels of Expected Shipping Date.

A. Immediate
If we have a item in stock, we will endevour to ship it on the working day on which your order is received, unless your order is placed after 4pm GMT, in which case it will be shipped on the next working day.

B. Within three Days of delivery to us
If we do not have a item in stock, the item will be shipped within 3 working days of delivery to us. Sometimes we will be able to ship before this date and othertimes, the shipment date may be after the date. But it will usually be around three days.

Delivery Schedule Delivery times

If sent by Royal Mail 1st Class, the package will usually arrive on the next working day after shipment as it is sent first class, but occasionally can take one day longer depending on exact time of order.

If sent by Royal Mail 2nd Class, the package will usually arrive within 3 working days after shipment but occasionally can take one day or more longer depending on exact time of order.

Western Europe and Eire 4-7 working days

If sent by courier:

Note that these are estimated delivery times. There may be variations in the speed of service caused by factors out of our control.
Back Orders If your item is not in stock, we will back order for you. You will always be emailed with the option to cancel your order if you would rather not wait.
Tax Charges Customs & Tax Charges

If the goods ordered by you are subject to a tax or other charge when the package reaches its destination, the liability for paying these charges will be with you, not with kentish Towns.

If you receive a item from us in imperfect condition, we will be glad to replace it with another item in perfect condition. Please email us in advance to let us know that you will be returning the item.

As a general rule, Kentish Towns does not accept returns of items just because they are different from what you expected them to be. The reason we put so much information about items on our site is to enable you to make an informed correct decision when you purchase them.

We may, in some circumstances, offer to exchange an item which you have bought for another item, but such exchanges need to be agreed with us by email in advance and do not happen as of right. If you are in any doubt about which items to buy, please ask for advice.

Instructions on Returns

1. Please wrap the item up in foam, carrier bags, newspaper - anything that will protect it from the knocks it will get through the postal system. (If a book comes back damaged, we cannot accept the return.)

2. Insert the item in a padded envelope or cardboard box. You may be able to re-use the one we sent to you if you still have it. If not, you can buy them from most post offices and stationers.

3. Write your name and post code on a piece of paper and insert it in the package. Better still, make a copy of your invoice and insert it in the package.
