'Sky's the limit at this year's Firework Spectacular

Preparations are now well underway for next year's Edenbridge Bonfire and
Firework Extravaganza to be held on Saturday 8th November 2008.

The Kentish town of Edenbridge has celebrated the anniversary of the discovery of the gunpowder treason in style for hundreds of years, and this year will be no exception. Over 20,000 visitors are expected to attend the event.

The evening includes a torchlit procession through Edenbridge High Street, a spectacular firework display and the burning of a 25-foot celebrity guy!

The identity of the 'infamous celebratory guy’ remains a closely guarded secret until the night of his demise, but the topical and sometimes controversial decision as to who will be torched is always a huge hit with the crowd.

Past guys have included, 'the love rat' James Hewitt, and Jacques Chirac the French President, (following France's decision to explode a nuclear bomb in the South Pacific). The huge effigy of Jacques holding the world, exploding into a mass of flames and fireworks received a rapturous cheer from spectators. Last year a French Farmer riding his onion-laden bicycle, met his demise on the night, following the French farmers’ decision not to allow our beef into France.

As always the event would not be possible without generous support from it's sponsors, please see the Sponsor Page for an up/to date list of our Sponsors.
