CARE would like to thank everyone locally for their help and support throughout the Hand-in-Hand Appeal and we look forward to welcoming you to our new services at Phillippines Close. |
| CARE |
| CARE is a charity that provides support to people with learning disabilities by offering a variety of accommodation options and day service opportunities to enable them to get the most out of life. Our services are geared towards meeting the changing needs of our residents, developing their confidence and self-esteem and are aimed at helping them attain increased independence and personal fulfilment. With eight regional sites and twenty-six services across the country, we are able to offer a comprehensive support package |
|
that encompasses not only life-skills but accredited training opportunities which can lead on to supported employment. |
| CARE Kent |
| Our new site at Edenbridge is the central hub for our services in Kent. Phillippines Close, off Hever Road in Edenbridge is now home to our “Oak Tree Cafe Bistro”, day services and main administrative offices and, by the close of 2005, will include four new group homes, a Horticulture Centre and staff accommodation. We have a further three group homes for more independent living recently established in community integrated settings in Sevenoaks, Biggin Hill and Longfield. |
| The
CARE Hand-in-Hand Appeal |
| Since 1998, the Hand-in-Hand Appeal has been raising the funding to relocate CARE in Kent from our previously remote site at Ide Hill to allow everyone using our services far more access to everyday facilities and increased opportunities to take an active part in the local community. The Appeal drew to a close in October 2004 with Appeal Chairman, local resident Lady Margaret Nolan, expressing her delight at its success. “It is wonderful to witness what is being achieved here at Edenbridge. For many years, CARE has dreamed of giving its residents the sort of access to emerging opportunities they will now be able to grasp with both hands”. |
"responding to the changing needs of people with learning disabilities"

| Volunteer |
CARE has been very fortunate over the years in having extremely active support groups who have given enormous amounts of time and commitment to help build and maintain the fabric of our various sites, thereby enabling is to grow our services and extend the support network to a lot more people with learning disabilities across the country.
There are, however, a lot of people who would like to help on a more ad hoc basis. No less enthusiastic, but with not quite so much time to give – perhaps because of work commitments or dividing time between several favourite charitable causes. Are you one of those people?
If you are, we would love to hear from you. Our new CVN (CARE Volunteer Network) welcomes support from people who can give a few days or even a few hours each year. Every little really helps! I can guarantee you will have a great deal of fun, will meet some lovely people and be doing something really worthwhile in your spare time. And make a real difference to someone’s life! |
