September figure is the size of infant classes taught by one teacher in Maintained Primary Schools
in England. The September class size count began in September 1998,
and an entry of N/A is made in the 1997 column. The January and
September class size figures are not directly comparable as some
schools stagger intake during the first few weeks of the autumn
term and some children start school in January. |

Schools.
The figure given is the cummulative total of Specialist Schools
in the LEA and is taken from data provided by the Technology Colleges
Team in the Diversity and Best Practice Division. |

Schools.
The figure given is the cummulative total of Beacon Schools
in the LEA and is taken from data supplied by the Beacon Schools
and Standards Task Force Team. |
