Everyone
has heard of the problems between Israel and the
Palestinian
people,
although the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian's
historical homeland is not the sole cause of the
problems,
it is a major factor.
China has occupied Tibet for many years and subjected
the people to a repressive and vicious regime.
Great Britain has occupied the Northern counties of
Ireland since the reign of Queen Elizabeth I.

| Occupied
Territories |

In recent weeks an already tense situation as become worse, with
both the Israeli's and
Palestinians attacking each other. Sadly as with all wars the
civilians on both sides are suffering.
It is time for the international community to step in a make a
concerted effort to sort this very complex situation out, so that
both groups can finally find a solution.

Tibet
|
China
has been occupying Tibet since 1951 stripping the region
of it's culture, crushing civil liberty, and massively exacerbating
tensions and hatred. Since China's occupation over 1.2 million
Tibetans have died from military action, torture, forced
labour, starvation, and genocidal practices, including infanticide.
This has to be stopped! Unfortunately China is a powerful
country, this means that the UN
and the US are both wary of antagonising the regime.

The
Tibet Society of the UK was
founded in 1959 within weeks of the Dalai Lama's flight from
Tibet which followed the Tibetan uprising against Chinese
occupation. The Society exists to support Tibet's right to
self-determination and independence and draw attention to
the plight of Tibet since it's brutal occupation. The Society
and a charity, the Tibet Relief Fund, exist to support the
Tibetan refugee community in exile and the Tibetan community
within Tibet.

Northern
Ireland |
Great
Britain first invaded Ireland in the twelfth century
Ulster
was part of Catholic Ireland until the reign of Elizabeth
I (15581603) when, after suppressing three Irish
rebellions, the Crown confiscated lands in Ireland and
settled the Scots
Presbyterians in Ulster. Britain has used this Presbyterian
settlement to justified it's continued occupation claiming
that leaving the Provence would be impossible as this
will
leave the Loyalist community in a country they do not want
to be part of. The picture on the right is sadly most
peoples
image of Northern Ireland, thankfully in the last few years
many steps have been taken towards peace, although this
has
not yet been achieved, as with Palestine and Tibet the
only hope for the future is long term peace.
