MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR.
Martin Luther King JnMartin Luther King Jr. was a man of peace. He fought for the rights of the black men and women who thought some of the rules in the US were wrong. Martin was born on the 15th of January, 1929. When he was young, he was brought up on the Bible. He also had dreams of becoming someone like a peaceful leader or warrior. Martin's farther was a minister. Martin decided he would become a minister like his father who had a big impression on his life. In the month of June 1953 Martin was married to an elegant and beautiful African-American named Correta Scott. Martin studied the life and teachings of Mahatma Ghandi while he was in college.
August 28 , 1963 was the day that "The March To Washington" was held. Many by the thousands were at the Lincoln Monument. It was the largest crowd of people ever at Washington D.C. Blacks and whites gathered to listen to Martin's famous "I Have A Dream " speech.

On October 14, 1964 Martin was awarded the Noble Peace prize. After that he became man of the year in Time magazine. The reason why he was a very important was because Martin was a man of peace and a Nobel leader who wasn't afraid to stand up in what he belived was right. Martin would fight for peace but, only peacefully.

Sadly, this courageous man died on April 4, 1968. Martin was shot by a man named James E. Ray . Although Martin died many years ago, we still honor him.
