The biennial Edenbridge
Hospital Fete, got underway with early morning clouds and overcast
skies...but this did not deter all the volunteers who were preparing
for this wonderful contribution to the Hospital funds. Dozens
of stands were erected and volunteers were very optimistic for
a “Great Day” in which they all got, and was well
deserved for all their efforts.
The weather warmed-up and the sun began
to shine as the fete was opened by Sir John Stanley, as dozens
upon dozens of local residents and friends flocked to the hospital
at Mill Hill, to enjoy the afternoon of fun and pleasure.
With the Edenbridge Town Band playing some
great and favourite tunes to the enjoyment of the visitors, who
visited the stands to buy and play games, in a hope to win some
excellent prizes, the fete got underway.Children had their faces
painted in a variety of colours, some as cats, lions, tigers,
they all looked fantastic!
The Edenbridge Rotary Club with their own
charcoal BBQ, were feeding the many with home cooked hamburgers,
and across from them was a stand selling some good original English
ale...maybe mixed with lemonade for a refreshing shandy ....to
wash it down with!
The children as well as adults tried their
luck in the Roll-a-Pig game where wooden balls were used to roll
at the pig and who ever got the highest score won a prize, the
coconut-shy gave young children an opportunity to win a delicious
prize...which many did.Stalls encompassed many different ideas
to raise money, a small boot fair, plant sale, clothes, embroidery,
face painting, ice cream & raffle, the human fruit machine
game, children’s toy sale, home - made cakes, biscuits and
delicious food, and prize raffles ....to win some lovely prizes.
To those who were there, many expressed
a pleasurable afternoon with all the music, stands, and plenty
to do and see...with all their sincere gratitude going to all
those who made a superb effort in this another very successful
– Edenbridge Hospital Fete....We Thank You ALL...!!!
