Edenbridge Festival 2014 A Big Success......
Kent
Eden Valley – Fun Day Success 2014

Despite the typical English weather with dark overcast skies, crowds flocked to the Fete in Stangrove Park, and the attractions situated all along the towns High Street, with their children and families.

There was plenty to do and see especially for the children with a free bouncy castle and palm tree which children were freely allowed to climb, local charities and companies had a great array of stalls, showing displays of their wares and selling flowers and Home- Made cakes. With the Dog Show taking in many people with their canine friends for an award at the final judging.

Festival Pram Race

The treat of the day for the hundreds who turned up made their way to Marlpit Hill where John Surtees, his friends, crew had their base for his race cars and bikes. They were enthralled at his beautiful display of race cars and motorcycles, many more so was when the race cars and bikes in which John was supervising his mechanics, were about to be started, but all the efficiency was there as his crew hit the button starting each car to the thunderous roar of these magnificent engines and gave many in the crowd a surprising “shock”, to those unfamiliar with the roar of these engines, hands were covering ears as the revving – up continued for about 15 minutes...but all were thrilled to see and hear them.

Many dozens if not hundreds of people lined the road when the cars and bikes finally headed down into station Road passing the spectators all along the route as they roared down into the towns High Street, then back to their base. There were so many vintage, modern cars and scooters as well as motorcycles lined – up that they stretched for hundreds of yards down Fircroft Way. There were many Ferraris and Lamborghinis in the TopFoto car park, it would make one shudder at the total price these amounted to!...they all soon came down Station Road, in a great parade looking pristine and perfect, as they drove through the High Street to a final stop at the recreation ground for a static display.

The High Street had many different stalls and the pubs were open to give the crowds a generous cold beer as the Rock bands played in the square to the many dozens standing listening to them ...they were Great!

Sadly, the rain eventually came down and many of the crowds left...but all - in - all despite the weather...the Eden Valley Fun Day, was heralded by many as a great success....!!!
