Organic
gardening is not as hard as it may seem. Simply put organic gardeners
do not use fertilizers or pesticides on their plants. The real key
to organic gardening is to treat everything within your garden as
a necessary part of the whole thing. The starting point for all
organic gardening is the soil, you need to look after your soil
and it will look after you! You need to add organic matter in the
form of compost, to your soil to improve its quality; we all have
access to the raw materials of compost. All you need to do is have
an extra bin in your kitchen and remember to put all of your vegetable
and fruit waste in the bin. Make sure you don't add meat or other
non-organic matter to the bin. You also need to empty the bin regularly
into an outside storage place and after a few months, magic happens
and you have a great source of natural fertilizer. Organic gardening
involves more thought then normal gardening but it is worth the
effort. When you harvest your first potato or runner bean the taste
will be worth it! |
