V1 "Doodlebugs" in Kent

Over 6000 V1 (the V standing for Vergeltungswaffe or 'Reprisal Weapon') rockets (Doodlebugs) were launched on England during the last months of the war, most of them heading for London many dropping short in Kent "bomb alley" causing over 5,000 deaths and injuring over 16,000 people.

The Edenbridge & District Historical Society
The aims of the society are primarily to promote, encourage and co-ordinate research into the history of the Eden Valley and to provide a platform for talks and discussion.

There are various opportunities for participation in the activities of the society - ranging from aid with research, exhibitions and committee work, the transcription of old records, word processing, contribution to the newsletter and booklets and even serving the refreshments at the meetings.

The meetings will be held at the W.I.Hall, Station Road, Edenbridge on either the first or second Thursday during
