Minor Injury Unit’s fete is in it’s own hands.
What a difference a day (or rather five) makes. On bank holiday Monday the Edenbridge festival was once again blighted by the weather, but on Saturday the Edenbridge Hospital League of Friends fete was bathed in the most glorious sunshine. With the lovely weather to encourage them, people flooded in to the hospital grounds to enjoy the many stalls and entertainment on offer. Local MP Sir John Stanley, who used his opening speech to highlight the fight against the closure of the Minor Injuries Unit, opened the fete. With a petition at the gate being signed by everyone who attended, it was clear, despite the jollity that the people of Edenbridge were also here to support |

the local hospital in it’s fight with the primary care trust. Once the serious business was completed the crowds had plenty to keep them amused, including a human fruit machine courtesy of Hever Bullen W.I., a coconut shy and Larkin’s beer on tap. If that wasn’t enough the Edenbridge fire brigade were on hand to show people around their fire engine, and the many stalls selling plants, books and cakes offered something for everyone. Michael Court said, “The fete was extremely successful, the weather was brilliant and we added 735 names to our petition against the closing of the Minor Injuries Unit”. So with the fete such a success, many people are hoping that the enthusiasm shown can be transferred to the SOS campaign of the Edenbridge Hospital League of Friends, and that the future of the Minor Injuries Unit, which is so important to the people of Edenbridge can finally be secured.
