- Theft of vehicles
West Kent Police are urging car owners, particularly those with high value vehicles to think carefully about the security of their car keys.
The advice comes following incidents where car keys were stolen and the vehicles taken from addresses in the Edenbridge and Sevenoaks areas.
On Monday 10 May between 11.35am – 11.40pm a black Porsche was taken from an address at Pit Lane Edenbridge. It is thought that the keys to the car were taken from inside the house. On the same day between 10.20pm – 6.20am 11 May 2 a handbag was taken from a house at Platt, Sevenoaks and a blue and a green Saab were then taken from outside the house.
On Tuesday 11 May a silver Mercedes was stolen from outside an address at Chart Lane, Brasted. The owner of the vehicle was standing outside the gates to the property, having just got out of the car, and turned to see it drive off.
It is not yet known if any of these incidents are linked.
Police advice is never leave your vehicle unlocked, even for a short period of time. Do not leave keys in the ignition. Think carefully about where keys are kept at all times and if possible invest in an appropriate security device for storing keys.
- Theft of Mitsubishi pick-up – Westerham
Earlier today West Kent Police appealed for information about the whereabouts of 2 cocker spaniels who had been stolen when a pick-up was stolen from an address in Westerham on Monday 10 May.
We have just heard that the dogs have been found safe and well and the owner is on his way to collect them from the Edenbridge area.
Many thanks for media help with this appeal. The appeal for information about the vehicle still stands.
- Appeal for information – Westerham
West Kent Police are appealing for information about a Mitsubishi pick-up that was stolen from Blackbarn Farm, Godley Stock Road, Westerham at about 6.00pm Monday 10 May. In the rear of the vehicle were two cocker spaniel dogs in a cage.
The owner of the truck drove in to the farmyard and together with his passenger went into a barn. At this point he heard the dogs barking and turned to see his vehicle being driven away.
The welfare of the dogs, a black and white and a blue roan with a fluffy coat and longer than normal ears, is of paramount importance to their owner and police would be very grateful for any information about them or the truck.
Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to contact West Kent Police on 01732 370611 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. Callers to Crimestoppers do not have to leave their name.
- Robbery e-fit
West Kent Police have issued an e-fit picture of a man they would like to speak to in connection with a robbery that took place at about 10.55am Thursday 15 April at the Royal Oak Public House, Main Road, Crockham Hill.
During the incident 2 white men called at the rear door of the pub and when the landlord answered they showed him a small handgun and forced their way into the premises. They took a quantity of cash from the pub and then left through the rear door. They are believed to have driven away from the pub in a new looking, silver coloured hatchback car, possibly a VW Golf.
DC Darren Jones said: “Perhaps someone recognises this man or can remember seeing him in the area, if so we would be very grateful to hear from them.”
DC Jones can be contacted on on 01732 370380 or callers can ring Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. Callers to Crimestoppers do not have to leave their name.
