January 2006 - Edenbridge Crime

  • Theft of car – Edenbridge

A black VW Golf was stolen from outside an address at Greshams Way, Edenbridge today Wednesday 25 January shortly after 8.30am.

The owner of the vehicle had been de-icing the car and left it insecure for a very short period, when she returned to the car she saw it driving away in the direction of Crouch House Road.

A red Metro car was seen in the area at the time the theft happened.

Police crime reduction advice is never to leave your vehicle insecure at any time.

Sgt Michael Perryman, West Kent Crime Reduction Dept said; “On icy mornings drivers need to allow extra time to make sure their vehicles are clear before moving off.  If you decide to start your car and leave the engine running you should make sure you use the spare key to lock it. It would be safer to stay with your car.”

Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to contact West Kent Police on 01732 370732 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.  Callers to Crimestoppers do not have to leave their name.

  • Arrest – Edenbridge

A Ford Fiesta was in collision with a cyclist.  As a result of the collision the cyclist, a Lingfield man, was taken to Kent and Sussex Hospital where he was treated for a broken hip.

PC Stuart Ballard said: “I am hoping that as this collision took place just before Christmas more people will have been in the area and will be able to remember the incident happening.”

Anyone who saw the incident is asked to contact PC Ballard at West Kent Police on 01732 370732 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.  Callers to Crimestoppers do not have to leave their name.
