Pictures released in Terry Edmonds' murder inquiry

Police investigating the murder of teenager Terry Edmonds have released pictures of the dark green suitcase used to conceal her body, as part of their appeal for information from the public.

Detectives say the suitcase, which has brown trim, was seen close to Tunbridge Wells railway station one week after the 17-year-old went missing on Easter Monday.

Terry, who was 17, was last seen alive near the train station at around 6.20pm on 17 April.

It is thought this suitcase was spotted by a passer-by in Station Approach on 24 April. Officers believe the case may have been moved around and want to hear from anyone who may have seen it.

‘The suitcase has brown trim and a handle and wheels so it can be pulled along. It stands around two and a half feet high, one and a half feet wide and nine inches deep,’ said Chief Superintendent Mark Salisbury, the area commander for West Kent.

‘We think this case may have been moved around, so it is possible someone saw it in the area around the station or close by where it was eventually found near the entrance to Morrison’s car park in Vale Avenue.

‘It could have been in various places around the town centre and may have been left on rough ground or in open spaces.’

Terry’s body was found inside the suitcase last Saturday afternoon, 29 April. She had been strangled and it is believed she was sexually assaulted.

Detectives are continuing to question a 21-year-old local man who was arrested in connection with the inquiry yesterday afternoon.

Fifty officers and staff are working on the inquiry.

Anyone with any information should call the incident room on 01622 654850.

Alternatively, people can also contact Kent CrimeStoppers on 0800 555111. Calls to CrimeStoppers are free and you do not have to give your name.
