Subsidised travel for the District's youth groups
Local youth groups are being reminded that they can take advantage of subsidised minibus travel to help them get to and from leisure activities both in and outside Sevenoaks District.
The scheme, run by Sevenoaks District Council, gives local groups the chance to book minibuses in the evenings and at weekends. They can have up to three half-price trips during the year with additional journeys at cost price.
Over 400 young people and their carers have taken advantage of the scheme since February 2004 when it was launched.
Cllr Peter Fleming, Sevenoaks District Council's Cabinet Member with responsibility for young people’s issues, says: “Young people often tell us that getting to events can be a problem. Our subsidised travel scheme allows groups of young people and their leaders to get to events, be they ice skating, bowling or a trip to the cinema, at a very reduced price. We look forward to hearing from local groups soon.”
To be eligible for the scheme, groups need to register with the Council Registration forms and guidelines are available from the Council's Youth Development Co-ordinator, Sophie Lord on 01732 227492 or e-mail
