Youth groups urged not to miss out on an adventure
Local youth groups who would like to take advantage of free self-catering accommodation at the popular Halls Green Activity Centre in Weald are being urged to book spaces now for 2006 to avoid disappointment.
In return for funding of the Owl Barn, Sevenoaks District Council has an agreement with the Centre which gives local groups access to the Centre. The lodge can accommodate up to 21 young people and supervisors for a number of weekends throughout the year and for two weeks during August.
This offer is open to youth groups operating in the Sevenoaks District. Whilst the accommodation is free, a charge is made for activities and instructors where needed.
The lodge has 21 beds in seven ensuite bedrooms, one with disabled facilities for two people. It also has lounge, dining room, fitted kitchen and a drying room.
Adventure activities available include abseiling, climbing, multi challenge rope course, archery, orienteering and fencing. There is also an indoor swimming pool.
Cllr Peter Fleming, the Council's Cabinet member with responsibility for young people's issues, says: "This is a wonderful opportunity to have a great weekend away with free accommodation. I would urge youth groups to plan for 2006 now to avoid disappointment."
There is still one weekend available to book in 2005.
