Listen up Edenbridge!
Councillors and staff from Sevenoaks District Council took to the streets of Edenbridge on 6 July to hear the concerns of local people and to consult on the Community Plan and Local Development Framework as part of a 'Listening Day'.
Under the banner of 'Your Community - Your District - Your Future', the Listening Day gave residents a chance to put across their views and suggestions in person to their local District Councillors, members of the Council's Cabinet and Council staff.
It enabled the local residents the opportunity to take time to comment and influence the priorities for the Community Plan, which is under review, and the new Local Development Framework, or LDF.
Around 30 keen residents attended the Listening Day outside of the town's Co-Op. The residents took time to comment on a range of their views including transport, anti-social behaviour, graffiti, road safety, crime and retail.
The Community Plan affects all aspects of life in the District, from housing to crime and facilities for young and old people. The LDF is the new planning framework that will affect all new building in the District, protecting the Green Belt and open spaces and use of land generally.
