Councillors and officers from Sevenoaks District Council will be taking to the streets during June and July to hear the concerns of local people and to consult on the Community Plan and Local Development Framework at series of 'Listening Days'.
Under the banner of 'Your Community - Your District - Your Future', this year's Listening Days will allow residents to put across their views and suggestions in person to their local District Councillors, members of the Council's Cabinet and Council staff.
There will also be the opportunity to influence the priorities for the Community Plan, which is under review, and the new Local Development Framework, or LDF.
Three listening days are taking place in the coming weeks:
- In the Market Square, Westerham on Saturday 24 June from 11am to 1pm
- In Blighs, Sevenoaks on Wednesday 28 June from 11am to 2pm
- Outside the Co-Op in Edenbridge on Thursday 6 July from 11am to 2pm
The Community Plan affects all aspects of life in the District, from housing to crime and facilities for young and old people. The LDF is the new planning framework that will affect all new building in the District, protecting the Green Belt and open spaces and use of land generally.
Cllr Peter Fleming, Leader of the Council, says: "It's important that local residents have face-to-face contact with their elected representatives and Council staff so they can have their say on local issues. This feedback, together with their views on the priorities of the Community Plan and Local Development Framework, will help us to plan how we and our partners will provide important local services in the coming years."
