A one-off special event is set to evoke the magical era of afternoon tea dances in Edenbridge next month.
On Wednesday 14 June residents of the town will be able to head to Edenbridge Leisure Centre to relieve music of a bygone age when a tea dance is held there.
The event will run from 12noon to 2pm and as well as music and dancing, there will be sandwiches and tea and coffee on offer. Tickets cost £4 per person, and must be bought in advance from the Leisure Centre.
Cllr Felicity Broomby, Sevenoaks District Council’s Cabinet Member with responsibility for community development, says: “The tea dance promises to be not only a great social event, but also a good way to keep healthy and active. I’d tell anyone interested to get to the Leisure Centre to get their advance ticket, and get ready for an afternoon of dancing!”
The event is being organised in association with the Edenbridge Older Lifestyles Group. The group is free to join and aims to provide healthy lifestyle information, activities and advice for anyone living in the Edenbridge area over the age of 65.
The Group, which meets every Wednesday at 11.30am in the Edenbridge Centre, Four Elms Road, was set up in March 2005 following recommendations from the Edenbridge Health Needs Assessment. It is a partnership project between South West Kent PCT and Sevenoaks District Council.
