An award winning event returns to Edenbridge this month to offer local people a wide range of information, demonstrations and free therapy taster sessions as part of World Mental Health Day.
The free event, which is being organised by Edenbridge Emotional Health Forum, will run from 11am to 4pm on Tuesday 10 October and is being held at Edenbridge Leisure Centre.
World Mental Health Day was celebrated in Edenbridge last year for the first ever time, and was so successful it was announced as a runner up in the World Mental Health Federation’s international Richard C. Hunter Mental Health Day award.
This years event aims to raise awareness of mental illness and suicide and there will be free taster sessions on a number of topics including Reflexology, Tai Chi, Pilates, Indian head massage and Reiki, to make people feel better physically and mentally
There will also be over 20 local support agencies and community groups displaying information and offering confidential advice and support, and the IT suite will be open to give access to useful support websites.
Cllr Felicity Broomby, Sevenoaks District Council Cabinet member with responsibility for Healthy Living, says: "Following the tremendous success last year there is a lot to live up to, but I am confident this year's event will be just as good. It is set to be packed full of information, advice and activities on a subject that affects a large number of people every year. The event is completely free, and you don’t need to book in advance so anyone and everyone is welcome along!"
