Bamber Gascoigne visits Eden Valley Museum
Kent

The former presenter of University Challenge Bamber Gascoigne visited the Eden Valley Museum on Wednesday (5th March).

Bamber was visitng the museum at the invitation of Alan Smith, Chair of teh Eden Valley Museum Trust and Managing Patner of TopFoto a local photograph library.

The visit was used to demonstrate TimeSearch a website developed by Bamber Gascoigne to help people search for information via timelines.

The visit comes soon after the museum received accreditation from the museum, libraries and archives council and achieved its best ever visitor numbers last year.

After a tour of the museum, Mr Gascoigne went through the TimeSearch system with staff and volunteers. The system allows users to find information and images via a timeline, for instance if you were interested in Anne Boleyn you would either search via her name or via a date during her life, the system would then provide links to information about that time period.

The unique thing about the system is that it will not only give you information on Anne Boleyn, but other events which occured around the time.

You can also search via types of events such as war and the arts, this will narrow down the events and people who are displayed.

For more information on this innovative system visit the website: www.timesearch.info
