Edenbridge Farmers market to Close?
Kent

The couple who curently run the Edenbridge Farmers Market have informed the Town Council that they intend to step down after the October market.

The market which takes place every third Saturday of the month seems to be in danger of closing, although Edenbridge Town Council are set to discuss the matter in a Tourism Committee meeting on Monday (6th October).

Tim and Angela Mann who have run the market for a number of years have contacted the Kent Farmers Market Association to warn them of their decision.

Benjamin Dent, Chairman of Kent Farmers Market Association has sent a letter to the Town Council offering advice and support to take the market forward.

Mr Dent said of the market, "The Edenbridge market is not a commercial business, it does not make enough money, posiblly a part time person running the market would be the answer."

He went on to say, "I would recommend that the Town Council is involved, they can help to facilitate the market. For instance, stall holders must have Public Liability insurance and the market itself needs insurance, very often town councils have insurance which can be extended to cover the market at no extra cost."

We will be updating this story as it develops and hope to speak to the Town Council after the meeting next week.
