Eden Valley Festival Heralded a Brilliant Success
Kent

The Eden Valley Festival that has been running for two weeks now, has without doubt been a brilliant success for all those who gave of their time and funds to make it one of the best the town has enjoyed, and to all those residents who have supported this with willing hearts for the community and those that live here.

Eden Valley Festival Heralded a Brilliant Success

It has been a full two weeks of fun packed enjoyment, pleasure and events, with art displays, live music - with jazz, rock and folk bands playing at different venues, book fairs, barbecues, karaoke,  a folk ale festival, countryside walks, concerts, and events at the town museum...in fact everything for everyone to enjoy.

It came to a grand finale today in the grounds of Edenbridge Hospital, at Mill Hill, where the League of Friends annual fete was held, crowds in their hundreds flocked to participate and enjoy the many different stalls that were on display there.

While the crowds carried on with the festivities, melodic sounds echoed around the grounds as the Edenbridge Town Band gave an excellent display of their music talents, bringing great pleasure to all those attending the festival.

There were stalls of every description within the hospital grounds, bringing delight to the many children and parents who came to support this worthy cause.

Local residents had stalls selling their own home produced cakes and jams, many finding it hard to resist and buying the delicacies on sale.

Using her professional skills, a local lady was face painting, not only children but also the parents willingly sat down and had delightfully coloured paints applied to their faces to look like cats with whiskers.

The Edenbridge Rotary Club had a hoop-la stall with many interesting prizes to be won, looking easy, many threw the hoops trying to win the coveted prize, but lost in frustration, others came away smiling having won the prize they wanted.

The belly dancing girls gave a superb display of their talents to the amazed onlookers, who wished they had the agility to dance like them.

Eden Valley Festival Heralded a Brilliant Success Larkin's beer had their own stall, many people queuing up to buy and taste this famous locally brewed ale.“Bowl the Pig” gained a lot of attraction as men, women, and children alike tried to bowl the wooden ball along the ground and get it through the holes under the pig, smiles were evident as prizes were handed out to the winners who were lucky enough to chance their skill.

The were raffles for some lovely prizes, a boot fair stall selling items to support the hospital funds, and plant stalls which gained favour for those who like gardening, purchasing some fine flowers.

Three elderly ladies played the game of “fruit machine”, those who paid to play were surprised at this ingenious game, in which at the hoot of a horn each of the the ladies took from under the table a different fruit and plonked it on the table, if all the fruits were the same, then the person won a prize.

This brought great deal of fun and amusement to all those who took part and to those who watched.

Two local doctors, Dr Isley and Dr Bailey  gave their time generously, selling ice cream from their stall, which proved too tempting for the children, pestering their parents to buy them one.

It was a great and fantastic day, enjoyed by everyone.
