Edenbridge “Children’s Centre” Proves a Success

When the Children’s Centre for the under 5’s first started in October 2008 little did the staff there realise how successful it would eventually become. On October 9th the centre had its Bookstart Day, which proved such a great event that over 90 families attended!
On December 16th came the official opening of the Children’s Centre, many families and children came to enjoy the festive drink & mince pies, and have the friendship together with the many that turned out in support of it.

Edenbridge “Children’s Centre” Proves a Success

Since that day the centre has proved an even greater success with an enormous amount of events that cater for every child and parent.

Mothers and fathers can work together with their children and encourage them in their growth at this pre-school centre, helping them to develop their young child’s inner potential skills with the various enjoyable games, learning art & crafts, and other activities available there, thus giving them an early start in life towards learning, education, communication, and working with other young ones in this family-friendly environment.

The services provided cater for all the young child’s needs and they are numerous and surely very enjoyable; Splish Splash - Big Messy Toddler - Cooking With Your Toddler - Teddies Group - Twins Club - Busy Hands…to name a few.

Other important sessions that are catered for are; A Baby Clinic - Flying Start - Antenatal Classes - Breast Feeding - Yoga - Baby Massage - 1 Year Checks - Postnatal Classes.
Everything for the baby and young child is on the centre’s agenda, so there is all the information available that the parents need.

Edenbridge Children’s Centre
Lauren Barden the Children’s Centre’s Community Involvement Worker gave me permission to visit and see for myself what was available to the under 5’s, I met her fellow workers who were polite, helpful, and kind to those who were waiting to bring their children into the centre.
Lauren kindly showed me around the excellent facilities for the young children to enjoy, there was a spectacular painted mural all along one wall depicting part of the High Street in Edenbridge, and many
spacious brightly painted rooms that cater for every activity that the centre offers to the parents and children.Mothers there were enjoying playing with their children…at painting, making patterns, using building bricks, reading, and in general having fun and pleasure in this very friendly atmosphere.
Lauren showed me the crèche / activity room with a separate baby area, the midwives room, café room, and activity hall.

I was very impressed at this spacious and excellent centre for the under 5’s, and with the vast amount of superb activities being offered to the parents and children…It is no wonder this has become a great success.

I would like to gratefully thank the staff at the Children’s Centre for their hospitality and time in showing me around;

Alisa Winstanley - Centre Manager
Lauren Barden - Community Involvement Worker
Kim Hunter - Receptionist
Sarah Bowes - Administrator
The Children’s Centre is situated in the grounds behind the Primary School and the Police Station in the High Street, Edenbridge.

There is no car parking facility at the centre, only for those disabled, but parking is available at the Leisure Centre or in the High Street.
