Under Age Drinking
Kent

With the ever continuing problems that are by caused by underage and binge drinking all across the U.K...especially on Friday nights and over the weekend, a new clampdown on this serious problem has been introduced in Edenbridge, by police, and council officials who now patrol the town in greater numbers.

They have the full and added support of the Kent Community Alcohol Partnership, who are determined to try and prevent the consequences that under age drinking brings, and assist youngsters in becoming more aware of the dangers of drinking too much alcohol.

Underage Drinking - causing illness and problems

This planned operation has now been in force for a month now, and is proving a success in combating the over indulgence of alcohol by young underage drinkers.

With the escalating problems that drink is creating, not only does it bring the possibility of violence to the town, but local residents have the added fear that these youngsters, while under the influence of drink will become unruly and cause mayhem, and that their own safety while walking through the town could be put in danger.

The “officials” are constantly monitoring this situation in the town by their active presence of being seen, and have achieved some good results in the last few weeks. Some youngsters have had their alcohol confiscated, and one supplier of alcohol has been fined for selling it to the underaged.

As the warmer weather approaches, youngsters look for suitable places to take their drink, some congregate in local woods, and areas where they can drink without the risk of being caught.

Although they may feel the risk is worth taking...

Beware the Police and those supporting them, will not let up in finding the areas and places where this is going on, and penalties could well be enforced upon the youngsters who flout the law.

This is a part of a scheme that will last for 12 weeks, with the combined efforts of the police, council officials, trading standard officers, and youth workers, all will be on hand to assist the project by getting the message across to youngsters in the area, by speaking and emphasising to them the serious consequences of over drinking, not only in regard to the possibility of a Police fine and the results afterwards, but more seriously the problems to their health, both now and in the coming years.
