The well known friendly community warden Alex Stephen, who's regularly seen all over the town  in the wardens van and walking the high street, is ready to take his retirement next year, after six years of patrolling the town.

His time to “take it easy” is nearly here, and his hope is that there will be enough funds provided by the Sevenoaks District Council to find a new replacement community warden, who will take his place in Edenbridge next year.

Last year in 2008, the S.D.C. offered to fund the community warden until March of this year, when the job came to an end, but fortunately after a successful campaign was put into operation and brought in the necessary funds, Alex, to his pleasure and delight was employed for another year, and his job in the community was then saved until his retirement in 2010.

Alex has made many friends throughout the town during his presence here, many local shopkeepers, businessmen, and residents, all agree that they will certainly miss him, with his cheery wave and friendly smile.
