Secrets of “Your”... Wheelie Bin Under Scrutiny

New evidence has emerged that your wheelie bin is under scrutiny by council officials in all areas across the county of Kent.
For a many years now, householders have been asked to separate and save, individual and useful items that can be re-cycled from the waste that they throw away every day, especially metal tin cans like; jar lids, drink, food , fish and pet food, aerosols. Every kind of plastic bottle; hair-care products, fizzy drink, shampoo, gels, milk and fruit juice, to cardboard, paper, magazines, and aluminium kitchen foil. |

Some areas in Kent have the commonly used black plastic bags for waste, and the clear plastic bags for the re-usable items, but many now have the commonly known wheelie bins. Some house holders own two or three of these, and specially keep the items to be re-cycled in each separate bin, ready for collection.
But householders were not warned that the examination of the contents of their wheelie bins was about to take place, and the secrecy behind this “abnormal procedure” was about to get under way.

This seemingly unpleasant task had been ordered by council officials across the county to their employees, in a bid to assist in a study to find out what is exactly being thrown away.
Many, of the 2, 000 wheelie bins collected by council workers, were emptied and the contents examined, to see if the householders were complying, or simply disregarding the preserving of items that could be re-cycled.
It was hoped for, that many were trying to keep to the guidelines that the council urged them to, by participating in trying to help save the environment, by simply spending the time, and saving the items that could easily be re-cycled, or were they just throwing everything away, rubbish or not?
It was found that most of the contents of the 2, 000 bins examined could have been re-cycled, but the majority of the items found in the bins could have been conserved, but were mixed in with household waste, such as rotting food, nappies, garden and vegetable waste, therefore creating the problem that the whole contents of the bin itself would have to be dumped in a landfill site.
If the contents had been sensibly separated in their respected bins, then the whole process could have be much easier, and certainly saved the county of Kent a massive expense every year. |

Many householders were angry and furious, some thought it was a insult to examine the contents which were personally disposed of. And that the Kent County Council had the audacity to take away all these bins from different parts of Kent and examine the contents.
In the last few years, many, if not all landfill sites have now been filled to the brim, therefore the necessity of separating the items that can be utilised again for further use is a priority of the K.C.C. not only in Kent, but across the country.
With the enormous cost of £19, 000, 000 spent every year of tax payers money in the county of Kent alone, in disposing of thousands of tons of waste products, all householders, offices, pubs, restaurants, factories, across the county, are urged seriously to be more efficient by separating such useful items that can be re-cycled, and despite the time involved are asked to endeavour to make a special effort, and be responsible in changing their attitude and habits. |

| Kent County Council are determined that this cost can be reduced considerably, if all of us can accept the responsibility. |
