Edenbridge, this tiny little market town was the very first town in Kent to become a - Fairtrade town - and get it's name known recognised locally and nationally by doing so...of which it is very, very proud of! The newly formed commitee of local residents sincerely believed in fairness for all, with these ones giving it their own personal and endearing support from the beginning.

The commitee in the early days were determined to demonstrate that they believed in not only purchasing local produce, but also in buying overseas produce like tea, coffee, chocolate and fruit from growers who have not been exploited, and also put some of the profits back into their communities (all guaranteed by the Fairtrade Mark).
There are now well over 460 Fairtrade Towns across the country, much to the absolute delight and satisfaction of the "The Edenbridge Fairtrade" commitee who insigated this fantastic idea in the first place.
Their devotion to this action and the annual event was to give all those from distant lands a fair opportunity, not only to grow, but to cultivate and sell there own produce to lands that would give them a fair and very reasonable price, as well as decent daily wage for all the hard work involved.
As the old saying goes " a fair days work for a fair day's pay" how true this has become since many dozens of countries across the world and thousands of "greedy bosses" have used manual labour to make them more and more money for their own pocket's, to the complete detriment of it's hard working manual workers and families!
But since - Fairtrade - was introduced firstly in Edenbridge, then across the county of Kent and now across the country, hundreds and thousands of workers in distant lands have benefited without question from the devotion to their cause by those in the UK, who have diligently supported this wholeheartedly by their own incredible motivating force, for they have reaped considerable and worthy benefits of which they are all most sincerely grateful!
For the residents in the town of Edenbridge need not be left out, as the Fairtrade event will be here soon, so everyone can show their own appreciation for the work done by those overseas in supporting your local Fairtrade commitee event.

The Edenbridge Fairtrade event will begin on - 28th February and continue until the 13th March, it will be the time for everyone in the town to show their own support for this event, and for the workers in far off lands that YOU appreciate and have given your support to.

So please come along to all the events featured and demonstrate your own personal concern and wellbeing for those who live so far away, but rely on us all to assist them in a better life for everyone and their families.

There will be -  A Fashion Show - A Photographic Competition - Lots of Fairtrade Specials in the Towns Pubs, Bistro's and Cafe's With Food to Taste and Buy - Stalls With Fairtrade Garments With Products on Sale - Schools will be Involved in Some Wonderful Moments in Which You Can Join In - The Town Museum Will be Displaying a Special Fairtrade Exhibition.

There is something for everyone to get involved in during this spectacular Fairtrade event, young and old, mothers fathers and young children. So for all the towns residents, please show you are a supporter of this fantastic two week event and come along and enjoy the pleasures that the town of Edenbridge and The Fairtrade Event...has to offer you!
