A Bandstand For Edenbridge...Could Be On The Way...!!!
Kent

In the glorious day's of Queen Victoria, right down through the Edwardian day's, the local Town Bandstand has been a highlight for towns and villages across the country.

There, the local band would play on sunny afternoons to the delight of the residents, who with such passion crowded around to hear the tunes played with great affection, pleasure and remembrance, have a sing-song together and really find delight in such wonderful day's entertainment...times long gone...but not forgotten!

Such is the hope of a local lady, Flora Smith, of the TopFoto gallery in Edenbridge, her desire is to have a bandstand built that would bring the local townsfolk back together to enjoy special day's listening to the music played, especially with the Edenbridge Town Band that will play there, which in itself has performed some great musical scores, not only in the town but further afield.

Flora Smith, a newly appointed Town Councillor is determined to bring back the "Good Old Days" with a new bandstand for the town, not only will the local town band be playing there, but other bands of modern music could well be given the opportunity to play, as well as exhibitions of art and photographic displays will been shown.

This new bandstand may be installed by the Leisure Centre, in Stangrove Park, which is peaceful and a charming place to listen to the sounds of bands on sunny days, have a picnic with family and friends, and bring back the nostaglia of a bandstand for the town and residents.

The Eden Valley Festival, which has become a success as the years have passed, would certainly welcome a bandstand - this would certainly, bring the crowds flocking to it on those sunny day's in the spring and summer!

Flora Smith, is determined and full of hope that local residents, businesses and companies will welcome her idea's and support her with enough finances to get the funding and the erection of the town's new bandstand, which will certainly benefit the town and bring back  "The Good Old Day's".

It is also hoped that it will be erected in time in remembrance of Her Majesty, The Queen's  - Diamond Jubilee in 2012...!!!

For those who wish to support this wonderful idea, please phone Flora on 01732 863939 or e-mail her at floras@topfoto@.co.uk

Thankyou all for your support in the making Edenbridge a town to enjoy...!!!
