A team of seventeen bright, keen students and I will be flying out to Brazil in the summer of 2013 to complete a month of trekking, we will be funded, organised and lead by each other as part of the challenge. Each of us has to individually raise around £4000 over a period of two years.

We will be looking for jobs, sponsors and fundraisers to aid us with this large sum!
Although we will be trekking and bearing witness to the stunning nature in Brazil the principle reason I am going is to be a part of the main project, in which we will spend a week in a small community doing something that will benefit them, it could be building or teaching English, or renovating buildings- something truly helpful.

As part of the expedition, we decide everything that will happen- the trekking routes, the project and even group fundraising. I wanted to be a part of this incredible expirience because I knew it would change my life, I would be more appreciative of what I have, I also wanted to overcome personal fears such as homesickness because I am extremely close to my family.
The values of what - World Challenge - aspire to do are very personal to me, as I feel that we should take advantage of being blessed with simple luxuries, we have the opportunity to make a huge difference in an entire community. I have always been involved with our local community, taking part in EHAS and all the camps etc. and now that I am old enough, I have made the commitment to give back to the community, so I help out with the summer workshops and camps, the values that they promote are similar to that of World Challenge. I also babysit, have recently been offered a Saturday job and I am a hardworking driven student already with a qualification in a modern foreign language to show that. I am interested in a career in the teaching world so this expirience would change my perspective on my entire life.
