the Edenbridge bonfire in 1928...?
Mr W.C. Muggeridge, Mr Arthur Cheal (Chairman),
Mr T.A. Cowdry, Mr & Mrs Bert Thompsett,
Mr “Copper” Charlton, Mr Cyril Boyland,
Mr & Mrs Wickes, Mr Jacobs, Mr Fred Warner.
first bonfire night was held at Crouch House Farm, such was the
commitees enthusiasm for this event that over 700 local residents
and their families turned-up!
The firework collection raised from just Crouch House Road...and
Not the town...
was an incredible amount of £1 . 5/-...!!!
The procession went from Crouch House Farm to the bottom of Stangrove
was a great night and all the committee and those active in its
participation on the floats and holding torches was all overwhelmed
by its success!
Hence the Edenbridge Bonfire Night continued every year (except
during WW2) but was soon in action again after the war, and ever
