Council Offers Free Microchipping in Edenbridge to Help Dog Owners…
Tuesday 26 April – Templar Court, Edenbridge TN8 6DN

Sevenoaks District Council is offering free microchipping for dogs to help owners in advance of new legislation coming into force next month. The new rules mean that from April 6 every dog over the age of eight weeks will need to be microchipped. The legislation will be enforced by all local authorities and the police.

To make life easier for owners who may not have already had their pets microchipped, Dogs Trust has donated a number of chips to the Council allowing free microchipping to be offered to residents on a first come first served basis.
Cllr Matthew Dickins, Portfolio Holder for Direct and Trading Services said: “Microchipping is such an important part of being a responsible dog owner and helps to reunite pets should they go missing. I’m pleased we’re able to offer a free service to help owners comply with this new legislation. Please get in touch if your pet isn’t chipped and you would like our assistance.” Dog owners who fail to get their dog microchipped under the new law could face a fine of £500.
For more information or to arrange for your pet to be microchipped, visit www.sevenoaks.gov.uk/animalwelfare or call 01732 227000.
