The Police Community Support Officers
Edenbridge has two new PCSOs (Police Community Support Officers) and they are here to be a vital link between the police and the community.Glen Conway and Claire Bournazian have been PCSOs in Edenbridge since February and April of this year respectively. Both Glen and Claire were looking for a change in career, and the opportunities offered by the role of a PCSO was perfect. |

So what does a PCSO do…well it is all about getting out to the community, and being a visible police presence in the town. Glen was keen to stress, ‘it is about working with the community, getting to know residents and shop keepers, just being around.’
So are our two new recruits
enjoying the job?
|
|
The answer is an emphatic yes! Claire and Glen both clearly enjoy their roles and despite neither of them knowing the area before, they are both getting to know people fast. |

This part of the job has been a challenge, as Claire says, ‘we are getting to know people, and people are getting used to seeing us around. The welcome we have received has been really good.’
The PCSOs work shifts, which means there is normally somebody on duty between 8am and 10pm everyday. |
