South End Post Office is set to close, after Royal Mail bosses revealed that it was amongst 56 branches across Kent which have been axed.
Councillor Jill Davison
The news has been met with disappointment by Edenbridge Town Council with Chairman of the Town Council, Jill Davison saying, 'We (the Town Council) pushed hard to save South End because we know that already there is pressure on the other Post Ofiice in the centre of town. There is always a wait, they are so busy in there. The South End branch has been busy, the main Post Office is going to get even more congested.'
With the main Edenbridge Post Office already at full stretch the closure of the South End branch is certain to cause more delays and put more pressure on the limited parking in the town centre.
Local people were equally disappointed with the news. Local resident Jill Batchelor said, 'It (the closure) is a loss to Edenbridge really.'
Life long Edenbridge resident Cyril Butler was saddened by the news, 'There doesn't seem to be any thought at all for the future.'
