Twinning association walkers arrive in Edenbridge
Kent

A group of weary travellers arrived at Doggett's Barn on Friday afternoon, after their week long journey from France.

The group made up of English and French people from Edenbridge and our twin town of Mont Saint Aignan had just completed a walk from Mont Saint Aignan to Edenbridge to mark the tenth anniversary of the annual twinning association walking weekends.

The walkers were treated to a reception at the town council offices with the mayor welcoming the French visitors to the town.

The walkers are greated by the leader of Edenbridge Town Council at Doggetts Barn

Edenbridge and Mont Saint Aignan have been twinned since 1973 and there is a thriving exchange of visitors between the two towns.

As well as the long walk from Mont Saint Aignan the Twinning Association arranged a walk from Hever station to Penshurst on Saturday (12th April) which many local people were able to join in with.

"It was a wonderful way to spend a week! We not only shared the walk but all the experiences on the way." was how Marie Line Madec-Arrignon summed up the trip.

Councillor Mrs Jill Davidson chairman of the Town Council said, 'The walkers have arrived in one piece, they have shared experiences along the way, which is what twinning is all about and we are delighted to welcome them.'
